Notes on hosting with TomcatI use a combination of HTTPD and Tomcat (both from Apache) as a hosting platform. After a sequence of downtime incidents related to a faulty UPS, I decided that I would run Tomcat under Professor Bernstein's daemontools supervise program, so that it could be automatically restarted if something went wrong. Since it took me a little while to figure out exactly how, I'm providing my own setup as an example (tomcat-supervised.tar.gz). This will run tomcat as a supervised process under the user and group of "tomcat", and log through multilog. |
